Kijkduin is The Hague’s other beach, in the south-west of the city. It is smaller and more relaxed than Scheveningen, with a cluster of beach pavilions, a modest seaside centre and wide sands backed by high dunes.
Its great asset is nature: the dunes of Westduinpark stretch away on either side, with walking and cycling paths and viewpoints over the sea. Locals come here to walk the dog, fly kites and watch the sunset.
It is the place to go when Scheveningen is crowded, or when you want the beach without the bustle.
